Juventus striker Mirko Vucinic is reportedly holding out for a move to Arsenal, according to reports in Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.
The 30 year old has seemingly been deemed as surplus to requirements at Juventus, and has been linked with numerous clubs in Italy and England.
The Montenegrin appeared set for a switch to Inter Milan as part of a swap deal that would have seen midfielder Fredy Guarin head in the opposite direction, however that move fell through as Inter sensationally pulled the plug on the deal at the 11th hour citing technical and economic aspect.
The report states that the Juventus striker reportedly still harbours hopes of an Arsenal move before the end of the deadline. The Gunners have been linked with the forward throughout January, and the Montenegrin is thought to be keen on a switch to north London.
It further states that despite the Gunners’ interest in Julian Draxler, Vucinic is still anticipating a late move from the Premier League leaders.
The Gunners are in desperate need of a striker following the injury to Theo Walcott, who will miss the rest of the season with injury. Bendtner is back but many feel we should have some one who could make an instant impact from the bench.
Vucinic is not exactly an out and out striker like Olivier Giroud, but rather favours the secondary striker role and he has largely impressed in that position for Juventus last term. He isn’t prolific in front of goal but can score spectacular strikes with his preferred right foot. He creates plenty of opportunities and his skill set, which includes dribbling, playing through-balls and the ability to play on the wing, where he likes to cut inside on the right, could make him an interesting acquisition.
He would be more than willing to jump the ship as he would be looking to get more games under his belt. A loan spell for him would make perfect sense for both the Gunners and the player but it remains to be seen whether Juventus will be interested.
