Schalke general manager Horst Heldt claims Julian Draxler does not want to leave the club this winter, and expects him to remain with the Bundesliga side for the duration of this campaign..And possibly longer.
The Draxler to Arsenal rumours are hitting top gear as Deadline Day approaches, with reports suggesting Arsenal are in talks to bring in the 20-year-old versatile attacking midfielder this week.
Heldt is standing his ground however and is even claiming the player is not seeking a move away from Schalke this month.
He reportedly said:
I am very sure that Julian will play for us in the second half of the season – probably even longer.
There is always anyone interested. We don’t want to sell the player. He was nowhere near telling us that he wants to leave the club this winter.
Heldt denied that he is indeed engaging in transfer negotiations with the north London club:
I checked my office to see if somebody is sitting there but I didn’t find anyone.
The German club are obviously trying to squeeze as much blood out of the stone as possible, so therefore are holding firm during these reported negotiations.
Wenger claims he is “active” in the market at present however is not close to any deal just yet.
Draxler has admitted in the past he is ready to step up to a big club but has eyed a summer move rather than something in January, however moving to the north London club could boost his credentials ahead of this summer’s World Cup.
