Arsenal have reportedly opened talks with Czech Viktoria Plzen over a deal for striker Martin Graiciar, according to reports in the Metro.
The Czech youngster spent a month on trial with Arsenal in December and made an immediate impact after scoring a hat-trick in the under-16′s 4-2 win over Norwich.
The report states that representatives from the north London giants are locked in talks with Plzen to lure the striker to England. It’s thought that both Chelsea and Real Madrid have also registered their interest in Graiciar, but Arsenal are willing to part with £200,000 to ensure that they get their man ahead of rival suitors.
Arsenal are considered to be favourites due to their reputation for nurturing youth and the player also seems to be interested in making a move after posting a picture on his Twitter account posing in the Gunners’ training kit.
The Gunners have always had an eye for bringing in young talent from around the world and the scouts have reported back positively over Graiciar, who has impressed in Plzen’s youth sides. He has impressed Wenger enough for the Frenchman to sanction a move, feeling he has enough promise to potentially be a fixture in the side in the future.
Graiciar who turns 15 in May, is a versatile forward who is capable of playing on either wing and it’s no surprise to see the crème of Europe’s elite fighting for his signature. He is known to be one with an all-round offensive ability and can play out wide as well.
He was previously on the books of Sparta Prague and it is being reported that Prague are entitled to get a percentage of any fee that Plzen get for selling him, which only complicates things. Wenger has an excellent track record when it comes to working with aspiring talent and so that could boost the Gunners chances of signing him. He already seems to have the makings of a superstar and it will be great to have a player of such potential in our ranks.
