Arsenal got their revenge over the weekend against Liverpool and managed to rotate appropriately with a number of first team stars suffering with fatigue and injury.
Bacary Sagna, Tomas Rosicky and Jack Wilshere were rested completely, while Santi Cazorla, Olivier Giroud and Kieran Gibbs played minor roles in Sunday’s FA Cup triumph.
Next on the agenda is arguably Europe’s most in-form team Bayern Munich and Arsenal cannot afford to lose this one, meaning Wenger may look for experience rather than taking it to the Germans with some of Arsenal’s younger stars.
Szczesny will be reinstated between the sticks despite Fabianski’s incredible heroics against Liverpool, while at the back Bacary Sagna and Kieran Gibbs will return to the lineup alongside Koscielny and Mertesacker.
Mikel Arteta could have been a potential starter alongside Mathieu Flamini, however the Spaniard is suspended meaning Jack Wilshere will almost certainly start in central midfield.
Further forward Mesut Ozil will take up the No 10 role, while on the wings Tomas Rosicky may get the nod over in-form Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain with Santi Cazorla on the left.
Rosicky was rested completely over the weekend and Wenger may look to the experienced Czech to provide a level head out wide and someone who can come inside to help out centrally. Depending on how the tie pans out we may see The Ox and Podolski in the second half to inject more directness into Arsenal’s attack.
Up front Olivier Giroud will definitely get the nod, Sanogo did a good job on Sunday but still has a long way to come. Bendtner, bless him, is now potentially third choice.
Here is our predicted lineup:
Sagna Merts Kosc Gibbs
