Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has praised Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and feels the Englishman could have a part to play in centre midfield during the crucial part of their campaign.
The Gunners are trying to keep pace with leaders Chelsea during an incredibly tough run of fixtures, and are doing so without the services of three of their top central midfielders- Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey and now Mesut Ozil.
The creative burden will be shared among the likes of The Ox, Cazorla and Rosicky, and Wenger feels the 20-year-old can build upon his promising performance against Bayern Munich in a more central role.
“He has the sense of positional play and he has the qualities which you want to see in the modern game,” Wenger told reporters during his pre-match press conference. “He has that capability to break through because there is a lot of pressure in the modern game.

“So those players who have the ability to get out of that pressure are of course very important, he has good vision.
“He has shown potential, I think there’s a lot more to come from him in many areas but there’s potential to work on. There is still a lot of work for him, but he has interesting qualities in this position.”
Wenger believes The Ox has drawn inspiration from fellow midfield maestro Jack Wilshere, and is often seen making driving runs forward in a similar fashion to his compatriot.
“He has similar qualities to Jack, I am sure he has observed Jack as well, to take all the information from Jack to develop in a similar role.” He added.
The Gunners travel to White Hart Lane this Sunday and Wenger may opt to play The Ox again in a central role to add more spice, speed and tenacity into the midfield.
He has certainly got plenty to work on, especially the defensive side of his game, but going forward he is a real threat while his distribution is very good. Since his return from the serious knee injury he’s been one of Arsenal’s best players and will hopefully get more of a chance to shine during the remainder of the campaign in his favoured central role.
He can really stick it to the Spuds and deserves another chance after his impressive showing in Munich.
