According to The Sun, Chelsea are open to selling their on-loan striker Romelu Lukaku for £25 million despite his immense promise.
The solid 20-year-old is enjoying a fruitful loan spell with Everton and scored one of his 13 goals against the Gunners in their FA Cup loss earlier this year. He is set to face us again this weekend and will be looking to help the Toffees step closer to the top four.
Lukaku impressed in pre-season under Jose Mourinho but was loaned out in favour of Demba Ba. It appears Mourinho is more interested in investing large sums into one established star striker this summer and the Belgian forward may have to make way to help fund the deal.
Arsenal need at least two strikers this transfer window, and need someone who is direct, powerful and has pace. Lukaku ticks all the boxes and best of all is very young and has bags of potential.
If he is indeed up for sale, for £25m he’s a player that has developed plenty of Premier League experience with both Wigan and Everton so he can provide an immediate impact while he is also developing into an important player for the Belgian national team.
He may not be in the bracket of the Cavani’s and the Falcao’s of the world but he has the promise to become this calibre of player. He’s solid in the air, quick with the ball at his feet and holds the ball up well with his physical strength.
It’s difficult to see if there’s much substance in the report, but I’d certainly be excited if this one came to fruition.
