Hull City v Arsenal
Barclays Premier League
Kick off: April 20, 2014 2.05 PM BST
Another fairly slow start from Arsenal, but turned the tempo up when necessary, putting Hull to the sword 3 goals to nil. It’s great to see the likes of Ramsey and Özil back in the side, and gives Wenger the good kind of selection headache in midfield. Hopefully a sign of things to come in the FA Cup final, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves just yet. Here are the player ratings:
Wojciech Szczesny | 8.0: A great performance by the junior Pole, keeping us level in the first half before we really got going. He was on his toes when it counted, and was out quickly to prevent Shane Long from getting between him and his defenders.

- [Player Ratings] Arsenal 1-0 Newcastle – Ozil Wonder Goal Saves Boring, Boring Arsenal
- [Confirmed Lineups] Arsenal v Newcastle United – Wilshere & Lacazette Start In 4-2-3-1
Bacary Sagna | 8.25: A very solid game from Bac, at both ends of the pitch. His crosses were good and he kept Boyd quiet mostly. He allowed quite a few crosses into the box by Hull, but that seemed to be a feature of Arsenal’s game rather than a mistake by the Frenchman.
Per Mertesacker | 8.0: Sturdy and dominant as ever, unlucky not to score from a set piece.
Laurent Koscielny | 8.25: His reading of the game and pace out of the back was fantastic, he did almost everything right today and was superb alongside Mertesacker.
Nacho Monreal | 7.25: A fairly solid performance compared to some of his recent displays, but he looks a lot better with Koscielny next to him rather than Vermaelen. Kosc covers for him far more when he is caught out of position, which is far too often.
Mikel Arteta | 8.0: More good work from Mr Consistency. He started off moves which led to goals, and was a real anchor in midfield.
Aaron Ramsey | 9.0: (MotM) The fact that he can perform so admirably right after returning from injury is fantastic. A goal and 2 assists, as well as his general play improving the side hugely. We’ve sorely missed Rambo in the second half of the season, and it’s great to have him back.
Santi Cazorla | 7.25: He grabbed an assist for the first goal, and was energetic throughout. His passing was a little off at times however, and he needs to be more consistent.
Mesut Özil | 7.5: Another good performance from a player returning from injury. Massively involved in both the first half goals, withdrawn after an hour very sensibly.
Lukas Podolski | 8.5: A brace from the German for the second game running. If there is one thing you certainly can’t find fault with it’s his finishing. A superb volley to smash home his first, and a calm finish for his second to make it 3-0. Finding form at a fine time, hopefully his scoring continues.
Olivier Giroud | 7.5: Aerial dominance, a great ball to Ramsey during the second goal, and very unlucky not to get a goal of his own. He looks so much better when he has players who run beyond him.
Mathieu Flamini | 7.0: Solid in midfield when he came on after an hour, didn’t offer much going forward when he did get up the pitch though.
Alex Oxlade Chamberlain | 7.75: Only on the pitch for a short while, but his direct style, was great to see, running at defenders and causing them real problems.
Yaya Sanogo | N/A: Think he only touched the ball once.
