Arsene Wenger has been urged to buy back Cesc Fabregas if this article from Metro is to be believed, with the Gunners hierarchy reportedly keen on the idea of bringing back their former talismanic captain.
The current Barcelona midfielder is once again hogging the headlines, his omission from the clubs new kit adverts as well as Luis Enrique remaining coy on the subject in recent interviews suggests the Catalan giants are open to the idea of selling the Spaniard.
While there is certainly nothing concrete yet from any parties involved, reports are certainly heating up that Cesc could be available for roughly £10m less than what we sold him back to his boyhood club for in 2011. Unfortunately the move back home has not worked out as well as many had hoped. There was a huge amount of pressure on his shoulders to replace the aging Xavi, but unfortunately he has failed to replicate his Arsenal form consistently playing in the much more disciplined Barca team.
Under Arsene Wenger he was given huge amounts of licence to roam, after all the Gunners boss had manipulated his formation to allow Fabregas to run the show in a more advanced central midfield position. It all sounds exciting but Wenger will take some convincing to add to his already overflowing attacking midfield talent. Remember there is Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Jack Wilshere who will struggle to get into the starting lineup, let alone the likes of Santi, Ozil and Ramsey.
But with Fabregas, Arsenal will have unprecedented depth in the midfield and allow proper rotation so players like Ozil and Ramsey will not have to play every single game possible. Not to mention preventing one of our rivals from snapping him up.
If push came to shove, do you think Wenger will be pressured to re-sign our ex captain?
