Norwich v Arsenal
Barclays Premier League
Kick off: May 11, 2014 3.00 PM BST
A surprisingly nervous game from both sides considering what was (or more accurately what wasn’t) at stake, but in the end Arsenal’s quality shone through. An absolute stunner from Aaron Ramsey and Carl Jenkinson’s first senior Arsenal goal gave us the win. There were also appearances by Jack Wilshere an Abou Diaby. Here are the player ratings:
Lukasz Fabianski | 7.75: His defence made sure his involvement was kept to a minimum today, but when he was called upon he did admirably. Will be a terrible shame to see him go this summer. This could have been his last appearance in an Arsenal shirt.
Carl Jenkinson | 7.5: Jenko bagged his first senior goal for the Gunners, and you could see how much it meant to him. He put in a solid shift on the right, he needs to work on looking up before crosses but he is still a bright prospect.
Bacary Sagna | 8.0: A fantastic job played out of position, another player that it will be devastating to see depart in the summer. Put in a number of fantastic challenges, and was fairly dominant in the air in place of the BFG.
Laurent Koscielny | 8.0: (MotM) Laurent was everywhere along the back line, mopping up absolutely everything. He read the game superbly, and was calm in possession, allowing us to play from the back.
Kieran Gibbs | 7.0: Struggled a little with Snodgrass, but a decent performance overall. Got forward well as ever.
Mikel Arteta | 7.5: Assured in possession, displaying his range of passing, and back covering his back 4 when required.
Aaron Ramsey | 7.5: Not his best game by a long shot, constantly giving the ball away attempting overly clever passes and back heels. His goal however, was an absolute stunner. A volley into the far corner off a Giroud cross which left Ruddy with absolutely no chance.
Mesut Özil | 7.25: Quietly impressed, without doing anything fantastic he was involved in a lot of nice passing moves.
Tomas Rosicky | 7.25: Lively and energetic, starting counter attacks and carrying the ball forward superbly.
Lukas Podolski | 7.5: The German was surprisingly hard working today, tracking back, putting tackles in and really showing his industrious side. Unlucky not to score.
Olivier Giroud | 7.5: Arguably the best player on the pitch in the first half, holding the ball up fantastically, showing good feet, and denied superbly by Ruddy on more than one occasion. Probably should have taken one of his chances, but his overall game was fantastic.
Jack Wilshere | 7.25: Looked good coming on, although clearly lacking match fitness.
Abou Diaby | 7.25: Great to see Abou back after so long out, how long it will last is something else entirely.
Yaya Sanogo | 7.0: A decent cameo, another great prospect for the future.
