This report from the Express is potentially the most preposterous article allArsenal.com have come across in our existence.
According to the English tabloid, THE Lionel Messi ‘was contemplating’ a move to Arsenal after a chat with pal Cesc Fabregas, however our former captain controversially switched to Chelsea after we rejected the chance to re-sign him and somehow that scuppered a move for the Barcelona forward, arguably one of the best players of all time…errr right.
This is based on ‘reports from Spain’ that suggest the Argentina star, who had a £250million release clause in his contract at the time, had made the Gunners aware of his interest in joining their revolution after the FA Cup win through his agent. Most likely to put Barcelona’s A into G and offer him the even more lucrative contract he desired.
Apparently the Barcelona star was considering the move to north London before Cesc Fabregas joined Chelsea, but because Arsenal decided to keep faith in Mesut Ozil and not splash £30m on a player we don’t necessarily need, the potential for a move fell through.
We try and filter out all of the bullsh*t reports, but this is certainly worth a read out of pure hilarity. Imagine Arsene Wenger spending over £100m on one player, let alone double that? He’d have a heart attack at the thought.
And the cherry on top? Apparently Wenger is an admirer.
