New Southampton boss Ronald Koeman will do all he can to prevent a further exodus from the club, with Arsenal target Morgan Schneiderlin an important player to be kept.
The Gunners are after a defensive midfielder this summer to succeed Mikel Arteta with Mathieu Flamini into his 30’s too. Schneiderlin has reportedly emerged as a top target of Wenger’s along with the likes of German stars Sami Khedira and Lars Bender, however it appears they may struggle to lure the Frenchman away from St Mary’s.
Southampton have already sold Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana and Luke Shaw elsewhere this summer with defender Dejan Lovren another attempting to push through a move, as well as plenty of interest in Schneiderlin applying further pressure on the club.
Koeman discussed the clubs intentions to swat away the ‘selling club’ label by keeping their remaining stars and look to add some players to the squad.
Schneiderlin has been away in Brazil for the World Cup and is expected back within a fortnight. Koeman is confident the 24-year-old will not be sold however.

We don’t have any bids for Schneiderlin.
He is a Southampton player and he will stay a Southampton player.
Arsenal’s interest has seemingly switched to Sami Khedira it appears, with reports heating up that Wenger is preparing a big money bid for the Germany star.
Schneiderlin would have been an interesting option due to his age and Premier League experience, but Khedira is the most exciting of the three linked but the most expensive.
Schneiderlin himself was keen for a fresh challenge after a number of years with the Saints, however the club seems set to stand their ground and not allow any more departures. Potentially a big miss for the Gunners.
