The 16-year-old came through the youth ranks at Upton Park and is regarded as one of the best young midfielders in Britain. He recently turned down a contract offer from the Hammers and instead choose to join the Gunners youth set-up.
The midfielder confirmed the move on his official Twitter account, posting a photo in Arsenal’s PUMA training kit with his new team-mate.
New Club Arsenal, New Teammate
The Eynsford-born midfielder made his debut for the England under-16’s in the Victory Shield last year, having joined the West Ham academy aged 13.
He has been capped twice by England at U-16 level and will join fellow recent acquisitions Mourgos Savvas and Elias Hatzitheodoridis, who were recruited from the club’s Elite Academy in Greece and could make his Arsenal debut when the U-18 team travel to face Lincoln City in a friendly later this month.
Wenger is known for having an eye for unknown starlets and turning them into top level players, and has always been open to bringing academy players into his first team. The youngster will be hopeful of emulating the break into the first team made by Wilshere and Wales international Aaron Ramsey, as both were granted first-team opportunities at an young age under Wenger. Although we may not see anything from the exciting youngster for some time, he may be a name to watch out for among the Gunners youngsters.
Welcome to Arsenal Ben.
