Theo Walcott has returned to the training ground as he steps up his recovery from the nasty ACL injury sustained in January, with Jack Wilshere also back in the mix after a holiday in Las Vegas.
Wilshere has made plenty of headlines recently after photographs emerged of the centre-mid smoking (ohhh nooo) at a Vegas pool party while letting off some steam after England’s World Cup exit.
The Arsenal midfielder has returned ‘three days early’ according to the Mail, with the rest of Arsenal’s England contingent (i.e Oxlade-Chamberlain) due back in training on Sunday.
Wilshere posted the following message on his Instagram:
1st day back was tough, not going to lie! But look who’s back in his boots! #TJW #29Days #WilshWillBeReady @theowalcott
Accompanied by the following picture:
Great to see Theo back in boots and taking to the pitch after a lengthy and frustrating spell on the sidelines for the England winger. The 25-year-old recently spoke about his progress and feels his injury is almost healed.
There is still no return date yet, but things must be positive if he’s already taking to the pitch to begin running again. He may struggle to start the season though which is due to begin in around four weeks time.
It’s also good to see Jack back after what was most likely a relaxing/binging couple of weeks for the youngster. His ‘smoking’ ordeal is certainly nothing to worry about as long as it’s not a regular ongoing thing. Better to get it out of his system now and relax during the players rare break from football. Either way Wenger will not be too pleased and will have a word thanks to the pictures splattered all over the English tabloids.
Here’s one of the more popular of the Englishman enjoying a cigar:
Wilshere must prove his immense ability this season in order to silence his critics however and push on from last campaign that saw him drift in and out of the squad, often due to injuries.
Much more still to come from the lad, and should we be chasing Khedira, competition will intensify even further.
