The North London club won their second trophy in less than three months after comfortably beating Premier League champions Manchester City on Sunday in the Community Shield final.
Ramsey believes winning the FA Cup, Arsenal’s first major trophy in nine years, could now pave the way for the first league title since 2004.
According to the Express, he said:
I definitely think we can win the league – we were top of the table for the most amount of time last season.
The only thing we need to improve is our away record against the so-called bigger teams: if we had managed to nick the odd point or win in those games it would have been a lot closer last season, and maybe even we would have won.
So that’s something we can really focus on to work hard to improve.
It’s great news and extremely pleasing for us as players that he (Wenger) signed that new contract, he’s done so much in this game and for the game, and for this club too.
We’re delighted that he’s committed his future to the club again, and we’re all looking forward to working with him for the next three years.
Winning the league again would put him up there with the best managers ever in this league, no doubt.
He’s been very successful, he’s built some great teams, helped some great players and hopefully now we can go on from last season and be successful again.
The Gunners led the Premier League for the majority of the season and up until January they looked like the real deal. However with UEFA Champions League games taking their toll, the likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Aaron Ramsey, Theo Walcott and Jack Wilshere missing several months out through injury they had to settle for their customary fourth-place finish.
However they did win the FA Cup their first trophy in nine years, so the pressure is off as they have finally delivered some silverware. Bringing the league title to the Emirates will be their main target.
It won’t be easy, but if you look through the spine of their side, we have plentiful options everywhere. In goal David Ospina will challenge Szczesny, while Mertesacker and Koscielny will get cover from Calum Chambers. In attack we have Sanchez who compliments Ozil and Walcott superbly, while Yaya Sanogo will battle it out with Olivier Giroud up top with a sprinkle of younger talent in the mix and of course stars such as Cazorla and Ramsey in fine form.
We didn’t have the strength in depth last season, but we have plenty now and if we can get a good start then the title is a reasonable target.
