Bayern Munich are set to swoop for unsettled Arsenal play-maker Mesut Ozil in January, according to reports in the Evening Standard.
The Germany international has frequently been targeted by pundits and Arsenal fans alike for his apparently lethargic performances, but showed glimpses of his best against Aston Villa last week.
The report states that the German giants have kept a close watch on the attacking midfielder ever since Arsenal signed him from Real Madrid for a club record £42 million.
It further states that Ozil’s body language suggests he is far from happy at the Emirates. Guardiola is convinced that the 25 year old has plenty to offer despite his below-par performances for the Gunners, and the Spaniard will make a formal offer for the German international when the transfer window re-opens in January.
The No10 has endured a troubled run of form across the past year and is generally considered to be under performing in Arsene Wenger’s team. However the World Cup winner notched his first goal of the season during the recent 3-0 win over Aston Villa, where he linked well with new signing Danny Welbeck.
Wenger’s decision to move Ozil into his preferred central position aided the player’s display against Villa. He has proven for Werder Bremen, Madrid and Germany that his creativity behind the striker should be considered world-class, so it’s fair to say consecutive matches out wide have limited his potential.

Wenger will be hoping Ozil can put together a string of significant performances after his display in the midlands. The fans are sure to be frustrated by the player’s inconsistency, but he has the potential to be key man for the rest of the season.Wenger still rates Ozil very heavily and even rejected the chance of signing Fabregas for the German, so I don’t think there is any chance of him leaving the Gunners any time soon.
