National Newspapers have been awash with the story that Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas could be set to move to Arsenal in the January transfer window.
Arsenal had been linked to the Spanish stopper over the course of the summer after Casillas had lost his place to Diego Lopez, but no move materialized, and the 33-year-old has since returned to Ancelotti’s starting line-up.
However, French tabloid Le 10 Sport believe that the Spanish international could be set to quit the Spanish capital for a move to England in January, with Arsenal leading the race to sign the former great.
Monaco are also said to be monitoring Casillas’s situation, and have been heavily linked to the Spaniard. However, many believe that Casillas may prefer to test himself in the Premier League as a fitting end to what has been a fabulous career.
In total Casillas has made 481 appearances for Real Madrid’s first team, and has also accumulated an astounding 157 caps for his country in a career that has spanned three decades. Will the legendary stopper be coming to Arsenal?

Should Arsenal sign Casillas?
Personally I think not. Casillas was the best keeper in the world, but the crucial word there is ‘was’. Over the past two or three years his previously high standards have dropped, and last year he looked a shadow of his former self. In the World Cup he had a bit of a nightmare, and it appears as if his best days are behind him.
Arsenal signed Ospina in the summer, and with Damien Martinez coming through they have three keepers, I can’t see the point of signing another one unless he would make a real difference.
So I’m afraid I would say no to Iker Casillas, offer Petr Cech however and it could be a different matter.
