Arsenal have reportedly reached an agreement with Manchester United over the signing of striker Danny Welbeck.
The permanent deal is mooted to be in the region of £16m and marks the Gunners fifth senior signing of the summer.
David Ornstein of the BBC reported the following:
Arsenal have reached an agreement with Manchester United for the permanent signing of Danny Welbeck.
The fee is in the region of £16m and there is no expectation that there will be any complications with the 23-year-old’s personal terms or medical checks.
Wenger, who is currently in Rome as part of a charity football event confirmed things could happen before the end of the day. He told Italian newspaper La Repubblica :
I am not in Rome for transfer business, but until the end things can still happen. At the moment there’s nothing, though,’
What is my last wish on the transfer market? To sign a player before midnight.
We are here to urge peace in the world and because football represents good values.
It is a great opportunity to prove that tonight with a festival of football.
At 23-years-old Welbeck represents a developing English striker who is well adjusted to Premier League life and has a proven scoring record. He may not as prolific as Ramadel Falcao, but better than nothing at this stage.
Have to say today has been extremely underwhelming. More outs than in so far.
Goal.com are reporting the proposed deal for Welbeck is four-year contract with option of fifth worth £100,000-a-week. The Gunners initially offered £13m, United wanted £18m, but a deal has been reached at £16m
