Arsenal need all three points at home to Galatasaray after their loss to Borussia Dortmund two weeks ago, and with the squad starting to look a little bare (especially at the back) we need a big performance from the lads with a visit to Stamford Bridge on the horizon.
At the back, there is a worry that Laurent Koscielny is carrying a knock and could be missing. This would mean Hector Bellerin earns another start with Calum Chambers moving across to partner captain Per Mertesacker.
The Gunners looked far more fluent in the 4-2-3-1 formation after the injury to Aaron Ramsey, with Jack Wilshere dropping deeper and Mesut Ozil coming in from out wide and playing in behind Danny Welbeck. This has to happen on Wednesday night.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could come inside to replace Wilshere who looks likely to miss the tie after his nasty ankle roll against the Spuds. The Ox was superb on Saturday and seems the obvious choice to partner Mathieu Flamini who replaces Arteta. The Englishman played as a central midfielder on a few occasions last season and did well bar the Chelsea debacle. He’s bang in form and deserves another start.
Further forward Alexis Sanchez and Santi Cazorla should start on either wing, Ozil in his favoured No10 position with Welbeck leading the line.
Although we await the confirmed team news from Wenger, here is how we view the potential lineup against the Turkish outfit. As I mentioned, if Koscielny IS injured, we will see Bellerin come onto the right.
Here is the predicted lineup:
Chambers Mertesacker Koscielny Gibbs
Sanchez Ozil Cazorla
