New signing Calum Chambers has been awarded the Arsenal Vitality Player of the Month Award for August, receiving 34.8% of the vote on the club’s official poll.
Chambers, who joined Arsenal for £16 million from Southampton, helped Arsenal to keep two clean sheets as Arsenal progressed into the main stages of the Champions League by defeating Besiktas, and also starred in the Community Shield victory against Manchester City.
The highly rated 19-year-old defender has made six appearances so far for Arsenal, impressing with his versatility, maturity and ability to read the game.
Chambers narrowly held off another new signing, in the form of Alexis Sanchez, to win the award. The flying Chilean finished just behind Chambers with 33.4% of the vote, after impressing in his opening matches for the Gunners.
Aaron Ramsey, who won the award for the first four months last year, finished third, polling 17.2% of the vote.
Arsenal fan Adrian Hadland will present the award to Chambers before the clash against Manchester City at the Ethiad Sadium on Saturday, and will also receive two free tickets for the match.
