Arsenal’s injury woes have been the main point of conversation lately, and that looks unlikely to change anytime soon. And in keeping with that trend, the latest transfer rumours state that Arsene Wenger is considering signing 19 year old Frenchman Stephane Sparagna.
The Marseille player was considered a star for the future, and is a French Under-20 international. But his poor injury record means that he has not been offered a new contract by his club and his current deal runs out in December.
But Wenger is still looking to sign the defensively oriented player, according to French media reports. The manager is a big believer in upcoming young talent, and since this youngster will be available for free, Wenger is highly interested.
The Gunners may face possible competition from French club Rennes, who have reportedly also offered the player a contract. However, if Wenger makes his interest serious, the youngster will surely make the switch to the Emirates.

Stephane Sparagna is a natural centre back, but he is also capable of filing in as a defensive midfielder. Arsenal are weak in both these areas and as such the youngster seems to be the perfect signing. The French media have dubbed him the ‘new Mathieu Flamini’ and if he lives up to those expectations he may be a solid signing.
But first Wenger needs to take a good hard look at the youngster’s injury record. At just 19, he has already been sidelined for a significant amount of time. Arsenal are already going through a severe injury crisis and bringing in another injury prone player will make no sense, even if he is free.
