As part of the program to add depth to the small Arsenal squad, manager Arsene Wenger is reportedly looking to bring in Benefica’s Anderson Talisca, the talented young Brazilian forward. Premier League duo Arsenal and Liverpool are both keen on signing Benfica’s Brazilian sensation after the U20 international’s brilliant start to the season.
Since arriving in Lisbon from Bahia, Talisca has scored six goals in seven games which is the best start to a season for a foreign player in the history of the Portuguese league. His performances have helped Benfica to set the pace as they defend their title. Both Liverpool and Arsenal had sent scouts to Benfica’s 4-0 victory over Arouca, where Talisca also found the net.
Talisca arrived for £3 million over the summer and his buyout clause is purported to be £18 million should the duo want to firm up their interest.
Should We Buy?
With Giroud sidelined for quite some time, a bit of quality backup for Danny Welbeck would not be amiss. However, we need to strengthen other areas of our team more urgently so this transfer can wait until the summer.
