An uncharacteristic explosive first half from the Gunners saw them take a 3-0 lead thanks to a Welbeck brace and Alexis finish before the break. The Englishman completed his hat-trick to round off a superb performance while Szczesny went and got himself sent-off.
Just what the doctor ordered (minus Sczers red) with Chelsea on Sunday.
Here are the player ratings:
Szczesny 6.0: Didn’t have much to do until he got rightfully sent off. Misses the next game.
Chambers 7.0: Got forward with purpose and overall was good at the back. Needs to be careful with his obvious shirt pulling however. Needs to be more subtle.

Mertesacker 7.0: Some great interceptions and should’ve had a clean sheet but..
Koscielny 7.0: A typical defensive performance from the Frenchman, nipping in and snatching a few balls. Some dodgy distribution at times though.
Gibbs 7.5: Another brilliant performance from the young Englishman, he will be chuffed with Roy Hodgson in attendance.
Flamini 7.0: Kept up with Pandev, not sure if that’s a compliment or not. Flamed Sneijder to earn his customary yellow and made some important tackles.
Cazorla 7.5: Was really pulling the strings in a deeper role than usual, spread the ball around nicely. Gave a few balls away with some sloppy turns though that hampered his rating. Almost scored at the end from some nice play from Wilshere.
Ozil 7.0: Sumptuous throughball for Alexis and was tidy in possession. A good performance overall but nothing too special. Needs to have a bit more enthusiasm to defend when we’re down to 10 men.
Alexis 8.0: Perfect throughball for Welbeck and was a thorn in the Galatasaray defence. Was lucky to have a leg after that disgusting Felipe Melo challenge. But he has two still and nailed a brilliant ball from Ozil into the back of the net. Should start against Chelsea.
Oxlade-Chamberlain 7.5: Looked lively early on but play generally shifted to the left. Great ball for Welbeck’s third and deserves another start this weekend. Ox is bang in form and one of our most promising attacking outlets.
Welbeck 10.0: A ten. Yes. Exercised some great pace early on and a superb run and finish for the opener. Brilliant second too, excellent composure and looked a real centre forward tonight capping off his hat-trick with a beautiful flick. Perfect for his confidence.
61′ Ospina 7.5: Went the wrong way with the penalty and made some superb saves late on. The save from Barak’s header particularly brilliant.
67′ Rosicky 7.0: Was a nuisance and got involved when he could. A good outing for the Czech.
77′ Wilshere 7.0: beautiful long distance one-two with Welbeck and ball for Cazorla who almost finished. Good to get some minutes ahead of this weekend.
