A big talking point before the game was ex-Gunner Cesc Fabregas’ appearance against his former club in Chelsea colours. While many fans still love him, some considered him a traitor. Those fans will simply have found more ammunition after today’s game, a game in which Fabregas displayed his class.
Before the match, Wenger claimed that he didn’t bring Fabregas back when the opportunity arose because he had attacking players like Ozil to fill the void left by the Spaniard. But Fabregas showed that he was about more than just attack today, as he turned in a high quality performance in a box-to-box midfielder’s role. The work rate he displayed was phenomenal, and he was able to crowd out the Arsenal midfield along with Nemanja Matic. He also went forward whenever the opportunity presented itself, eventually finding Costa for Chelsea’s second goal. That was incidentally Fabregas’ seventh assist of the season.
While some Gooners were happy to see him at the start of the game, those emotions had vanished by the final whistle. Here are some tweets showing his impact on the game and the reactions of fans to Fabregas’ performance.
It started out rather well:
Few boos for Cesc Fabregas from Arsenal's fans…more pantomime than malicious.

A disquieting thought for Arsenal fans:
Wenger moaning about money yet we payed more for Sanchez and Ozil then they did Costa and Fabregas. Go figure.
