While the fixture against Galatasaray in the Champions League tonight is a must win game, the Gunners have one eye on the weekend fixture against local rivals Chelsea. The Blues are in ominous form this season, and to keep out title hopes alive, we need a positive result at Stamford Bridge. A win against Chelsea could also provide us with the required confidence to step up our performances in the Premier League.
And in a boost to Arsenal, it has emerged today that Chelsea star Didier Drogba is unfit and will not be able to take the field on Sunday. Drogba has been a constant thorn in the side of Arsenal, and has scored against us 15 times in as many appearances. Upon returning to London during the summer, he suffered an ankle injury in a friendly game. While this injury was supposed to keep him out for around six months, he recovered amazingly quickly and was even able to play against Manchester City and Schalke.
But a recurrence of the injury during a training session yesterday means that the Ivory Coast international will be unavailable for the clash against the Gunners. With Chelsea’s first choice striker Diego Costa also struggling with an injury, this could be just what Arsenal need to secure some points at the Bridge. Imagine a Chelsea lineup with Remy as their only striker!
