Arsenal defeated Galatasaray 4-1 after losing the opening game against Dortmund. Danny Welbeck scored his first hat trick and Alexis Sanchez also got on the scoresheet. The only blot was the red card for Szczesny in an otherwise perfect night.
Szczesny stressed the importance of the double-header against Anderlecht and believes his team have enough quality to get the right result.
Szczesny told arsenal.com
It was brilliant against Galatasaray – it was a very complete performance. If you take out my sending off, it was perfect! We defended really well, we scored four very good goals and it was obviously a good day for Danny as well. So it was a very enjoyable game for us.
We have two games against Anderlecht next and we are looking forward to them. Hopefully after that we will have put ourselves in a good position but we realise how important these games are and we are up for it.
The games against Anderlecht should yield 6 points and anything less than that puts us in a not so comfortable position in the group. Szczesny’s suspension and Ospina’s injury means Martinez will start in as goalkeeper. A backline of Martinez, Bellerin, Chambers, Per and Gibbs should take the field tomorrow.
