Arsene Wenger has given the latest injury update ahead of the Hull game. The news is quite mixed.
As expected Laurent Koscielny is unavailable for the Hull game and although he doesn’t require surgery it is still a problem given our dearth of options at centre half.
Calum Chambers’ suspension means Spanish left back Monreal will partner Mertesacker in the centre of defence. Bellerin could slot in as right back.
All is not doom and gloom though, Tomas Rosicky is fit for the game on Saturday and Ramsey may be included in the squad for the Anderlecht game on Wednesday.
Wenger also dismissed stories that he overruled the physio’s advice regarding Ozil’s injury:
He didn’t tell me anything during the game. I didn’t even know. At half-time, the physio told me he has a little pain in his knee, but it is not bad. He wanted to go on.
Rosicky’s return is a boost and Ramsey’s availability for Wednesday means the injury isn’t as serious as it was thought to be. But we are absolutely decimated at the back. Monreal is a left back and Per is not really the quickest so Hull may be looking to expose us in set pieces or even in regular play. Hopefully we can come out of the game unscathed, literally and metaphorically as well.
