It seemed typical Arsenal really. Wilshere flying in on Gaston Ramirez, picking up a needless yellow card, wincing in pain shortly after and calling to the bench for a substitution. Yet another casualty to the slowly depleting Gunners squad.
Arsene Wenger after the 2-2 draw with Hull City provided a rather blunt response to questions over the fitness of his star midfielder, claiming he is “well” and should be available for Wednesday nights Champions League tie with Anderlecht “if he’s selected”.
Not the most convincing response for a player who has a horrible track record with injuries. Especially with the Gunners medical team hardly inspiring us with much confidence at present.
Luckily Aaron Ramsey is back in the side after appearing this afternoon, and hopefully Wilshere will actually be “well” and in the squad come Wednesday. He’s been one of our best players recently and gave Hull City plenty to think about today.
Unfortunately he still is lacking the final product, but the signs are encouraging. The last thing he needs is another setback.
