Ghana international Andre Ayew is about to leave French club Marseille, and the winger has been heavily linked with a move to England’s top flight.
Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United have repeatedly sent scouts to watch Ayew, who’s bagged 51 goals and assisted 22 in his four years at the club.
The 24-year-old’s contract expires at the end of the season and he has refused to open talks over a new deal due to the interest from across the Channel. And today’s reports in France have suggested Ayew could leave in the winter window for as little as £1.5m, despite his £11m market value.
Marseille are open to such a small fee to make sure the Ghana man doesn’t leave on a free in the summer. All that remains is for the player to choose which club he wants to go to.
Napoli are also reportedly interested in Ayew, but the forward has previously spoken of his desire to join England’s top-flight.
The Premier League is a league every player dreams about.
The English league is the one most followed in Ghana. It’s true that I have a real preference for England.
I like everything about it; the atmosphere, the game, the fans. There is a lot of intensity. It is a beautiful championship.
While Arsenal need defensive oriented players urgently, a player of Ayew’s quality does not come so cheap very often. We should definitely monitor the situation and try to bring in the player if possible.
