The Englishman scored off a corner in the 72nd minute, as the ball ricocheted around the box and found the foot of the defender who left nothing up for question, tucking it into the back of the net.
The 19 year old was delighted to get on the scoresheet for the first time in his senior career and says he should be scoring more and providing more assists.
Speaking to Arsenal’s official website, he said:
It is [a dream]. Scoring doesn’t come often as a defender so to finally get my first goal is a good feeling and I was very happy with my celebration.
I was trying to push forward a lot more and I want to try and add that to my game at full back. I want to get more assists and goals and, for that to happen, I have to get forward more.
We’re trying to attack as much as we can from full-back positions. For me and Kieran to both get goals [is good]. It is something we’re working on – to be more attacking and get forward more – so it’s paying off.
The youngster had an absolutely phenomenal day and was everywhere on the right side, marauding wherever he went. He made no noticeable mistakes, crossed the ball (mostly) brilliantly, found Alexis for an assist and contributed a goal of his own.
This kid is going to be something special and would have been man of the match, but he played in the shadow of Alexis who was on another level. It is difficult to gauge such a performance against a side that is sitting at the foot of the Premier League table, but Chambers continues to hurdle every obstacle and challenge that he is presented with.
