The Chilean has impressed for the Gunners since his summer switch to the club, scoring five goals and making two assists in the Premier League.
However, the French manager doesn’t feel that the 25 year old’s impact has been truly appreciated since his summer move.
Speaking to Arsenal’s official website, he said:
If you consider the hype, yes [he is underrated]. I think it just confirms that we made a good buy and that’s what we wanted.
I believe there’s something more than the numbers – there’s the attitude, the teamwork, the team ethic. The way he’s integrated our values and qualities is absolutely fantastic. Then you add the numbers to it and the goals he’s scored this season, it’s fantastic.
You want a great player to be a great example and you become a great example with your attitude and your winning desire. He’s a winner and he wants to win every game. That’s why that comes out. Everybody will say, ‘Yes, Alexis is a great player and he is also a fighter’.
The Gunners are currently a one-man wrecking crew and that one man is Alexis. The Chileans has 8 goals in his first 15 appearances, but what he brings to the team is so much more than just goal production. His work ethic is unreal and he is literally everywhere on the pitch.
His creativity is the spark that drives every Arsenal attack and the longer he plays with his Gunner team mates, the better they’re going to get and the more they’re going to benefit from his driving and passing. When Walcott returns, the Chilean maestro will have an outlet to thread passes to that will be unstoppable.
