Arsene Wenger has praised man of the moment Alexis Sanchez after the forward put in yet another fantastic performance as Arsenal won 3-0 against Burnley at the Emirates. It was one of Arsenal’s better displays and got our first win at the Emirates since the opening day win over Crystal Palace.
The Chilean was immense all day, closing down opponents, creating chances for his team mates and testing the goalkeeper with some venomous shots. It looked like one of those days when nothing would go in for Arsenal but Sanchez had other ideas. The former Barcelona man was finally rewarded for his perseverance and got on the end of a cross to score that all important opening goal.
Minutes later, Chambers scored his first Arsenal goal to make it 2-0 and as is the norm these days Arsenal got their third goal in stoppage time through Alexis to complete a straightforward 3-0 victory.
Wenger hailed the Chilean forward’s street fighting qualities and believes that the South American is at his most dangerous through the centre.
The header he scored is that. It’s more the result of determination and desire than doing something special technically. He has the attributes of a fighter and of a quality, talent player. That’s what you want to see in every football player.
Since he’s played through the middle he looks more goal dangerous. Now it looks to me that he’s really dangerous through the centre of the pitch because he’s in full confidence, he’s physically strong, he likes to take people on as well and he makes perfect runs. Through the centre of the pitch maybe he’s more dangerous.
Sanchez’s signing increasingly looks like a brilliant piece of business and at £35 million looks like a bargain. In recent years we may have lacked that player who could do something out of nothing, a magic player but in Sanchez we have that ideal player.
