Arsene Wenger spoke to the assembled media ahead of Arsenal’s clash with Swansea City on Sunday. The boss touched on various issues including Walcott’s game time, Ramsey’s stuttering form and the Anderlecht game.
Wenger revealed that Walcott is fit to start but refused to be drawn on whether the forward would be included in the starting XI. Wenger also said he wouldn’t mind what England do with Walcott.
The boss told arsenal.com:
Walcott is in the squad [against Swansea]. He can start if I decide to start him. He needs playing time. Roy Hodgson is free to do what he wants.
Wenger also in his pre match press conference said that Ramsey needs to keep his game simple and help the team without concentrating too much on goals, perhaps a mild reprimand to the Welshman.
He has to keep his priorities right. He needs to help the team. It’s not about goalscoring
Given what happened on Tuesday, there might be a number of changes to the starting XI. Cazorla was disappointing to say the least and Aaron Ramsey, well let’s not talk about that for now. The Ox’s super performance against Anderlecht should see him included in the starting line up.
This game is of massive importance to us; this is the last game before the international break and with Chelsea taking on Liverpool, we can’t afford to drop points as we have done all season. Swansea have dropped off a bit after their fantastic start to the season but the way we are conceding goals now any club would fancy a chance against us. Hopefully there are no stutters come Sunday and we claim three crucial points to stay within touching distance of Chelsea.
