Jack Wilshere’s ankle injury is not as severe as it could have been with x-rays revealing ligament damage – not a break according to the Mirror.
Although the extent of the damage has yet to be confirmed the Englishman is almost certainly out of this weeks Champions League match with Borussia Dortmund.
Wilshere went down in pain after a collision on the edge of the Manchester United box, where his outstretched foot took a good bending. Although it looked serious Wilshere attempted to play on after receiving treatment but was promptly withdrawn.
X-rays have apparently shown there was no break but there is potential ligament damage. Depending on the severity, the Englishman could be looking anywhere between a few weeks up to a couple months out. Fingers crossed he has a quick recovery and the damage is not as bad as first feared. But knowing Arsenal it probably will be.
In the meantime maybe Wilshere can contemplate his shooting. Take a leaf out of Giroud’s book while he’s on the sidelines.
