The Gunners have been handed a big boost with the news that Mathieu Debuchy will resume full training next week.
The France international suffered a nasty ankle injury against Manchester City in September after a promising start in his first season with the Gunners. But there is a light at the end of the tunnel as the 29-year-old looks set to rejoin his team mates next week with a view to play again by Boxing Day at the latest.
He told French newspaper L’Equipe [translated]:
I think I’ll resume group training next week. I’ve been sidelined for ten weeks, but it should go pretty fast from now on.
The goal is to be fit for the end of the year with a view to playing on Boxing Day, or even a little before.
Debuchy’s return in the near future will certainly be welcomed with new injuries showing no signs of slowing down. Although Calum Chambers has done a terrific job covering for the Frenchman, he can be better utilized at centre back and add more depth to the back line.
