Arsene Wenger has revealed the latest team news ahead of Arsenal’s clash with Liverpool at Anfield this Sunday. The news is quite encouraging although that depends whether the trio of players in question pass the fitness test tomorrow.
Alex Oxlade Chamberlain is likely to be fit for Sunday after he tweaked his groin in last week’s win over Newcastle United while Monreal has a slight chance for Liverpool. The Spanish left back was injured at the Hawthorns and hasn’t featured since.
The big news is Theo Walcott has an outside chance to be available for Sunday. The forward made his much awaited come back against Burnley and hasn’t played again after sustaining an injury while away on national duty.
Wenger told Arsenal.com
There’s a slight chance of Monreal being available and a very slight chance for Walcott.
We hope that Oxlade-Chamberlain will be fit. We’ll see that on Saturday. He is back in training today [Thursday]. But only today. I might take him, I don’t know yet until he’s back to full training.
Let’s see (on Oxlade Chamberlain) what we’ll see on Saturday after a test. He’s not in training at the moment. Ospina is back in full training and Rosicky should be back next week. All (Ozil, Koscielny, Arteta, Wilshere) out. They’re all progressing as planned.
While we may not be in the title race to challenge Chelsea or City at the moment, it’s important to stay as close as possible to the top 4. The games over this busy period are vitally important and who knows there may be the slightest of chances to get within striking distance of Chelsea by the end of the month. For that we have to win games and to win we have to assemble 11 fit players which at the moment looks bleak.
