Arsene Wenger is ready to rebuff any bids for Nacho Monreal this January, with the Spaniard proving increasingly important to us this season, as reported by the Daily Mail.
Athletic Bilbao are allegedly keen on bringing the defender back to Spain, and have made enquiries as to his availability. Wenger has refused the notion that the left-back will be allowed to leave however, and insists he is an Arsenal player.
Monreal has shown his versatility this campaign, and has filled in at centre-back while Laurent Koscielny has been out injured. He has come in for criticism in the past, but has been one of our more reliable performers so far this season.
The Spanish side may not be deterred however, with reports suggesting they will look to return for the 28-year-old next summer. Wenger may be far more willing to sell at the end of the season when he has a better chance to find a replacement, but with Monreal performing well there is little need to sell.
