According to Spanish journalist Kike Marin the stories in the Daily Mail are true and we are interested in signing Espanyol centre-back Hector Moreno.

Marin writes for Vozpopuli newspaper in Spain and believes that with Moreno being allowed to leave Catalonia there is every chance we will swoop.
The Mail reported that scout Brian McDermott was in Spain on Tuesday to watch the Mexico international in action against Valencia in the Copa del Rey.
It’s clear that we need defensive recruitment this January transfer window with such limited options in the squad and injuries having once again played a big part.

Mathieu Debuchy hurt his shoulder against Stoke City on Sunday and as yet it’s unknown if the Frenchman will require surgery, but either way he is likely to be sidelined for some time.
Calum Chambers has impressed since joining from Southampton and will be able to fill in, but cover is needed and having impressed at the 2014 World Cup maybe Moreno wouldn’t be such a bad option.
However, we are likely to face competition from Tottenham Hotspur for the 26-year-old’s signature, with Mauricio Pochettino also thought to be interested and he has connections with Espanyol having previously managed them.
