Chuba Akpom has been offered a new three-year contract by Arsenal having entered the final six months of his current deal at the Emirates Stadium.
The London Evening Standard reports that because Akpom can now talk to foreign clubs about a summer move Arsene Wenger is keen to retain the services of the 19-year-old.
Eredivisie duo Feyenoord and FC Twente are understood to be interested in securing the forward, as are struggling Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund.
However, after allowing both Lukas Podolski and Yaya Sanogo leave on-loan in this January transfer window – to Inter Milan and Crystal Palace respectively – Wenger has realised he cannot allow more attacking talent to depart.
This season Akpom has made three appearances for the first team, with substitute cameos in the Premier League, Capital One Cup and Champions League.
That is now five times the teenager has turned out for the senior side and with Podolski and Sanogo both having left that only looks set to increase should he choose to commit his future to us.
Akpom is a product of our youth system, has six caps for the England Under-2os and has enjoyed loan spells in the past with Brentford and Coventry City.
