Although there is nothing concrete yet, the amount we have been linked with Winston Reid this January makes it hard to believe there is no truth in the rumours. The latest report suggest that the player himself has requested a move to the Emirates, and that he is determined to push through a move this window, according to the Mirror.
The 26-year-old has turned down a new deal despite West Ham’s desire to keep him at the club, so no matter what happens he will moving on to pastures new next summer. The New Zealand international is hopeful of securing a move away from Upton Park this January however, with Arsenal his destination of choice.
Sam Allardyce has claimed Reid will not be allowed to leave the club before the end of the season, but an unfocused and unhappy player is unlikely to be any help at West Ham. The Hammers boss would be far better served cashing in on him now, with the two sides looking to compromise somewhere between £4m and £8m.
