Arsenal’s Under-21s were held to a 2-2 draw this evening by Wolverhampton Wanderers, as the hosts came back from two goals behind to salvage a point at New Bucks Head.
Arsenal controlled the first half, opening up a two goal lead through Alex Iwobi and Dan Crowley. Crowley’s strike was particularly impressive, an excellent 25 yard freekick which doubled Arsenal’s advantage after Iwobi had tapped home earlier.
Wolves fought back though, and the balance of the game shifted just before the interval as Declan Weeks pulled a goal back for the hosts on the stroke of half time.
Wolves then completed their comeback after the break, as Albert Torras equalised for the home side midway through the second period to stun the young Gunners who had looked imperious during the early stages.
The hosts had wasted chances to equalise earlier in the game, as Bradley Reid squandered two good chances, but Arsenal could have nicked it at the end with Akpom and Maitland Niles both threatening. In the end though Arsenal were indebted to goalkeeper Macey who denied Jordi Ortega with a late close range block.
