Despite the deal with Villareal yet to be finalised, the Daily Mail are claiming that Gabriel Paulista will be in the squad to face Aston Villa on Sunday.
The Brazilian star is close to concluding a move that will see him join the club for a reported £11.3m, and with his medical and work permit issues thought to be resolved, his Emirates switch appears to be on the verge of completion.
He will need to be registered before Friday in order to be eligible, but could play some part if the deal is completed as quickly as is expected.
The 24-year-old is unlikely to be thrown straight in at the deep end, especially with Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker both fully fit. He may get an appearance off the bench if things are going smoothly however, as Arsene Wenger looks to blood his latest acquisition.

The versatile defender has presumably been brought in chiefly to play at centre-back, but his ability to slot in at either full-back position makes him a very appealing prospect for the French manager.
