Joel Campbell has recently joined Villarreal on loan, with the 22-year-old part of the deal that saw Gabriel Paulista secure his move to the Emirates. He has recently spoken out about the transfer, revealing that Santi Cazorla was the one who convinced him to move, as reported by the Express.
The Costa Rican was struggling for first team football at Arsenal, and that was unlikely to change in the second half of the season.
He already appears to have the faith of the manager at Villarreal, and should see plenty of action in La Liga.
Cazorla was the player who convinced him it was the right move, by revealing his experiences at the club.
“Santi Cazorla is a great player and he told me how I’d find the club. He said that at Villarreal it’s just one big happy family,”he said.

“I’m very happy to be here and playing in La Liga. It’s a great chance for me to do well in the second half of the season.
“Playing in Spain is certainly special. I was lucky enough to play with Real Betis and now I’ve got the opportunity again with Villarreal.
“I’m ready to work hard and I hope things turn out well. My head is at Villarreal and I’m determined to prove my worth here.”
The Spaniard was a Villarreal player for four years before moving to Malaga in 2011. He made the switch to the Emirates a year later, and hasn’t looked back since.
Campbell will hopefully return to us next season a better player, with the game time in Spain sure to help him improve.
