Arsene Wenger has had mixed success with his purchases from La Liga, but Santi Cazorla showed on Sunday that when the Frenchman gets it right, he really gets it right.
With truly world class players like Mesut Özil and Alexis Sanchez brought in from Spain, who have been Wenger’s best signings from La Liga? And who have been his worst?

Here is how we rate Wenger’s La Liga imports from worst to best:
12) Sebastien Squillaci – Sevilla
Unquestionably one of the worst signings of the Wenger era, Squillaci’s Arsenal career was an unmitigated disaster.
He had looked solid at Sevilla in Spain, but the Premier League proved to be a very different animal, and the Frenchman never adapted.
11) Fran Merida – Barcelona
At the time the Spaniard looked like an astute signing, but he failed to ever make the grade at Arsenal.
Not only that, but he has failed to move on in his career at all since joining us in 2005, and has barely stayed at one club for more than a season.
10) Julio Baptista – Real Madrid
Part of a misguided swap deal with Real Madrid, the Brazilian initially looked like he had all the required attributes to succeed in the Premier League.
He proved to be just another flop however, and left the club at the end of the season.
9) Jose Antonio Reyes – Sevilla
The main reason Reyes is so far down this list is due to his transfer fee. Joining the club in 2004 for close to a record Arsenal fee, the Spaniard showed a huge amount of promise.
He was poorly suited to the aggressive nature of the Premier League however, and never really looked like succeeding at the club.
