Obviously, the worst thing an Arsenal fan can ever try and do is predict who Wenger will sign in the transfer window. It is fine to speculate but more often than not, he surprises us with his choices. Who foresaw the signings of Mertesacker and Arteta? Instead of the predicted signing of Mario Gotze, that was deemed virtually guaranteed, we got Tomas Eisfeld. Anyway, in the spirit of the transfer window, here are the three players I would love to see at Arsenal but I am not holding my breath.
- Marek Hamsik:
I would absolutely love to see Hamsik sign for Arsenal from Napoli. He has been so bad for Napoli that he currently finds himself on the bench. However, I believe this is down to the ultra defensive tactics of Rafa Benitez. Hamsik is a wonderfully gifted player who would fit seamlessly into the Arsenal team. His poor form means Arsenal would be able to get him on the cheap just like Manchester City did with Jovetic. He is very similar to Rosicky in his style of play. He would be a valuable addition to Arsenal.
- Edison Cavani:
I admit I have my reservations about Cavani. First of all, I viewed him as a luxury buy but with the loan of Podolski, this signing has become a necessity. My view of Cavani is that he is a scorer of great goals but not quite a great goal scorer. He is a flashy player who is very selfish but I guess Arsenal could do with selfish right about now. I know he had an incredible scoring record with Napoli but I put that down to the brilliance of Hamsik more often than not. His free kicks were quite good though but like I admitted…he does score some crackers.
- Victor Wanyama:
Everyone is talking about Morgan Schneiderlin and the attributes he will bring to the team but after watching Wanyama in action, I feel he is more suited for Arsenal. His performance against us was impressive. I have been impressed by Coquelin recently but he was made to look like a light weight by Wanyama. He is the missing link that will transform us from also rans to title contenders.
