Arsenal have been bizarrely linked with a sensational move for PSG’s £50m man Edinson Cavani, but reports in Spain suggest he is close to joining Real Madrid, according to the Express
Arsene Wenger was never likely to fork out the kind of cash the Ligue 1 champions would no doubt demand for the Uruguayan striker, but his potential move to the La Liga giants could prove extremely beneficial for us.
The future of Los Blancos star Karim Benzema is regularly brought into question, and the Frenchman has often been linked with a move to North London. Cavani’s main gripe at PSG is that he is playing second fiddle to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, so he is unlikely to seek a move to Madrid unless he is assured of first team football.
Any assurances given to the former Napoli star would surely spell the end of regular football for Benzema, who may well seek an exit from the Champions League holders.
Wenger is known to be a huge fan of his compatriot, and could seek to bring him to the Emirates if the opportunity arises. With top quality strikers a scarce commodity at the moment, Benzema would be a fantastic addition to our squad.
His link up play and finishing are both excellent, and he is far more mobile than Olivier Giroud. His physical presence should see him excel in the Premier League, and his signing would signal our intentions to really make a push for the title.
