Tottenham v Arsenal
White Hart Lane
Kick off: Saturday February 07, 2015 – 12.45 PM BST
A fantastic start to the North London derby, but an extremely disappointing finish. Two goals from Harry Kane gave Tottenham Hotspur all three points, as we faded in the second half and gave up possession to the home side.
Here are the player ratings following our 2-1 defeat to Tottenham:
GK) David Ospina | 6.0: A few good saves made in the first half, but didn’t always look assured and confident. This was his first real test since taking over from Wojciech Szczesny, and he didn’t exactly pass with flying colours.
RB) Hector Bellerin | 6.0: The young right-back looked to be a weak spot in the first half, and Spurs looked to exploit that. He improved in the second half, but was pinned back for most of the game.
LCB) Laurent Koscielny | 6.5: Didn’t look his usual dominant self, and made a couple of silly mistakes.
RCB) Per Mertesacker | 7.0: Was far more solid than his defensive partner, but still could have been better. Had to cover for Bellerin at times.
LB) Nacho Monreal | 7.0: Our best defender on the day, looked solid defensively and contributed well going forward. Was unlucky to be booked.
DM) Francis Coquelin | 7.0: Another good performance from the Frenchman, but wasn’t able to utilise the ball well as he was constantly swarmed by Tottenham players.
CM) Aaron Ramsey | 5.5: A poor performance from the Welshman, and possibly should have been substituted. He was putting a huge amount of effort in all over the pitch, but was sloppy on the ball and things just weren’t going right for him.
CAM) Santi Cazorla | 6.5: Not his most influential game, but we looked a lot weaker after he was taken off.
RAM) Danny Welbeck | 7.0: (MotM) Played a huge part in the buildup to the goal, and was tireless during his time on the pitch. Understandably faded in the second half after only recently returning from injury, and needed to be substituted.
LAM) Mesut Özil | 7.0: Took his goal superbly, and looked excellent in the first half. He was restricted hugely due to the constant threat Spurs were posing however, and had less of an impact in the second forty-five.
ST) Olivier Giroud | 7.0: An assist for the goal, whether he meant it or not, and some good hold up play. He provided a much needed out ball, but didn’t get a huge amount of service.
Tomas Rosicky | 6.0: A decent performance after coming on for Cazorla, but couldn’t make the difference.
Theo Walcott | 5.5: Ineffective after coming on, and found it difficult to find opportunities.
Chuba Akpom | N/A: A cameo performance on the pitch, barely had the time to impact the game.
