Mesut Özil has looked in inspired form since returning from injury, scoring twice in two games and clinching the Man of the Match award against Aston Villa.
After netting at the Emirates he produced a mystery celebration that left many confused, but has taken to Instagram to explain himself.
The German star raced towards goal after being put through by Olivier Giroud, placing the ball low into the far corner while Brad Guzan watched on helplessly.
He jogged over to the corner flag to celebrate, sucking his thumb and making an ‘M’ with his hand. Fans were initially confused by the gesture, so the World Cup winner took to social media to explain himself.
The goal was apparently dedicated to his niece Mira, and the Instagram image was accompanied with a message clearing up any and all confusion.

Hopefully this revitalised Özil is here to stay, and we will start to see some semblance of the player we signed from Real Madrid in 2013.
