Obviously Arsene Wenger seems to be very clear on his preferred starting lineup when all attacking options are available to him. This includes, in no particular order, Francis Coquelin (Still amazing how far he has come), Santi Cazorla, Aaron Ramsey, Olivier Giroud, Alexis Sanchez, and Danny Welbeck. So while obviously this is the team Wenger has settled for, is it really his best considering the options he has?
At first glance, this team is full of hard running and high defensive work rate, but loses out in terms of technique and creativity. Giroud, Ramsey and Welbeck came straight back in to the team after their injuries. Ramsey and Welbeck replaced Rosicky and Walcott respectively in the team. Not only was Ramsey inconsistent, he took the place of Rosicky who was beginning to play some really sumptuous football while Walcott, who had brought speed and an end product to the team was now forced to play second fiddle to Welbeck.
Ozil has now taken the place of the injured Aaron Ramsey and taken his chance with aplomb putting in some eye catching Man of the Match displays that will make him virtually undroppable although it is obvious Wenger rates Ramsey very highly.
Giroud and Coquelin are now the names everyone expects on the team sheet. Anyone who does not think Giroud deserves his place on the team is not being objective with his hot scoring streak at least a factor to be considered.
How many fans think Szczesny should be our number one instead of Ospina? I have no doubt they would be the minority and while Monreal has improved immensely, the game against Crystal Palace showed his obvious flaws, the gaping one being his lack of speed. I still think Gibbs brings more stability than Monreal.
It probably doesn’t matter which team Wenger puts out, so long as we are getting positive results. Every Arsenal fan will get behind their team no matter what. Arsenal have found a semblance of consistency with Tottenham the only blip…we just need to get a good result against Monaco to build momentum.
