It is becoming a topic for hot debate. Santi or Ozil? With Theo Walcott and Alexis Sanchez vying for the wider slots, Wenger will have to choose either/or when it comes to the No10 position at some point and who will it be?
Santi Cazorla has been in scintillating form for Arsenal, thriving in his favoured central role and it’s difficult to see the Spaniard losing his place for next Sunday’s visit to White Hart Lane.
Cazorla has been the Gunners’ best player in recent weeks, which is no mean feat considering the consistent threat of Alexis Sanchez. The Spain international was immense against Manchester City and was rightfully awarded a rest against Brighton. He then claimed two assists and a goal from the spot against Aston Villa in the 5-0 victory, making him the favourite for the attacking midfield role this weekend.
Ozil in the other hand is Ozil. He oozes class and is one of the best midfielders in the world on his day. The German has scored in his last two appearances and has looked a lot more fluid. His movement is fantastic and he is incredibly elegant on the ball. What a flick to Giroud for his opening goal on Sunday. Remarkable. Bergkamp-esque.
He has played on the left lately but he is still best utilised centrally. Wenger needs to manage the team in a way that doesn’t shift players around to fit into one side which means from time to time Ozil or Cazorla misses out – which is not a bad thing, as it allows one another a breather and keeps them fresh rather than pushing both to the limit.
Wenger has options aplenty on the wings but it is likely to field both of the attacking midfielders in the rather fluent forward line instead of one or the other this weekend for the NLD.
If you were given a choice of just one, who would you choose?
