Arsenal transfer news
Diaby’s terrible luck with injuries finally looks to have caught up with him with The Sun suggesting he as well as one of Mikel Arteta or Mathieu Flamini will exit the club at the end of the season.
Diaby has managed just one game all season – a 67 minute Capital One Cup appearance against Southampton – and is currently on the sidelines due to a continuing calf injury.
“The only thing I can say about Diaby is that he progresses well in training. He goes step by step but is not yet in a position to play,” said Wenger.
“I will have to talk to him soon about his contract. I plan to do that this month.”
Diaby’s injury woes all stem back to a terrible tackle he received from Sunderland’s Dan Smith which broke the Frenchman’s ankle in his first season at Arsenal in 2007.
Since that day he has suffered continual physical problems totalling more than 40 individual injuries and has even had to learn to walk and run in a different way to attempt to alleviate continuing issues.
But with Diaby unable to prove his fitness, The Sun says Wenger is resigned to the fact he cannot keep him at the club and will make the signing of a new midfielder a priority in the summer despite the emergence of Francis Coquelin.
